2023 Summer Associates

Savannah Bergeron

Savannah Bergeron is a 2L at Harvard Law School. During the school year, she worked as a student attorney for the Harvard Animal Law & Policy Clinic. Savannah also serves as Academic Chair for First Class, a first-generation affinity group, and is an Article Editor for the Harvard Environmental Law Review. Previously, she was the Director of Community Development for the Harvard Law Entrepreneurship Project, a student practice organization that gives legal assistance to local start-ups, and served on the Submissions Committee for the Journal of Law and Technology.

Last summer, Savannah worked at Bilzin Sumberg as a Summer Associate. Prior to law school, Savannah graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Business Administration.

In her spare time, Savannah enjoys mountain biking, knitting, and gardening. As an 8th-generation Floridian, Savannah also cares deeply about Everglades conservation and restoration.

Sarah Carraher

Sarah Carraher is a 2L at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. She is the Vice President of marketing and communications for the Graduate & Professional Council, as well as a member of Women’s Law Caucus, International Law Society, Business and Law Society, and the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund

Prior to law school, Sarah was a Foote Fellow that graduated magna cum laude in 2021 from University of Miami, earning a degree in Honors Communication with minors in Public Health and Sociology. During her time in college, she was a contributing writer and illustrator for Distraction Magazine and Hurricane Newspaper, Vice President of Recruitment for University of Miami Panhellenic Association, and a junior account executive at GreenRoom Public Relations Firm.

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys trying new restaurants to review in her food blog, drawing, and spending time with her kitten.

Isabella Durand

Isabella Durand is a 1L at Emory University School of Law. She currently serves as a 1L
Representative for the Real Estate Law Society and is a member of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers.

Isabella was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida. Prior to law school, she graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Political Science. During her time at UF, she served as Director of Legal Professions for Florida Blue Key, completed Spanish research pertaining to non-native speakers’ proficiency, and acted as Vice President of Marketing for her sorority.

In her spare time, she enjoys running and yoga, trying new restaurants (especially sushi), and traveling to surf.

Skye Jackson

Skye Jackson is a 1L at Duke University. At Duke University, Skye is a member of the Women’s Law Student Association and the Business Law Society. At the end of her first semester, she was awarded the Pamela B. Gann Scholarship for Academic Excellence. As an avid theatre enthusiast, she is excited to serve as the Vice President of Artist  support for the Duke Immigrant Stories Lab during her second year, where she will work with the Duke Immigrant and Refugee Project and coordinate pro-bono projects focused on helping immigrant playwrights and authors produce and publish their work.

Prior to law school, she graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History. She was a student editor for the UF Alpata journal of history and hopes to work on a student law journal during her time at Duke. While Skye has been enjoying a change of scenery in North Carolina, she is originally from Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

In her spare time, Skye enjoys spending time with her four siblings, going to the beach at sunrise, and listening to Taylor Swift.

Carlos Markovich

Carlos Markovich is a 2L at the University of Miami School of Law. As a former city planner, Carlos is passionate about urbanism and has years of experience guiding development projects through the governmental approval process. Carlos hopes to bring his experience to the forefront of his legal career, helping clients bring quality development projects to fruition.

Prior to law school, Carlos was a Senior Planner for the City of Miami Beach’s Planning Department.  During his six years with the City of Miami Beach, he received the American Planning Association Award of Excellence in Florida for Sustainability.  He is part of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a LEED Associate.

Carlos is a native Spanish speaker and is proficient in Portuguese.

Michael Murray

Michael Murray is 1L at Cornell Law School and a Miami native. At Cornell, Michael is an active competitor in the Moot Court Program, the Academic Chair for the Black Law Students Association, and a member of the Latin American Law Students Association.

Prior to law school, Michael interned at the Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he developed a deep understanding of the criminal justice system. In 2020, he graduated magna cum laude from Florida International University with a B.A. in Philosophy and a certificate in Law, Ethics, and Society. After college, he worked as a legal assistant at a local firm where he managed first-party property cases.

When not focused on his academic pursuits, Michael enjoys testing his limits through rock climbing, indulging his creative side in the kitchen, and spending quality time with his furry companion, Archie.

Sanika Nanda

Sanika Nanda is a 2L at Vanderbilt. At Vanderbilt, Sanika is an active member of the Phi Delta Phi, Health Law Society, International Law Society, Law & Business Society, If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice, South Asian Law Student  association, and is a Peer Mentor.

Last summer, Sanika worked at Klein Solomon Mills in Nashville, TN as a Summer Associate. Prior to law school, Sanika graduated summa cum laude from Tulane University with a B.A. in International Relations & History and a Minor in Psychology.

In her spare time, Sanika enjoys traveling, volunteering, reading, dance, and foreign films. She is fluent in intermediate French and has conversational Hindi skills.

Alberto Poleo

Alberto Poleo is a 1L at Duke University. He was born in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to Miami when he was ten years old. He is a graduate of Gulliver Prep (2015). At Duke, he is a 1L representative of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society (SELS), the Duke Law Florida Club, and the incoming Vice President of the Latin American Law Students Association (LALSA).

Prior to law school, Alberto graduated from the University of California (UCLA) with a B.A. in Economics. While at UCLA, he was recruited to play soccer and he spent all four years representing the school at a Division I level.

As an economics major and former finance legal assistant, his interests naturally lie on the corporate practice side of the law. Before attending law school, Alberto spent three years working as a legal assistant at a big law firm in New York City. He primarily provided assistance to the Aviation Practice Group and Corporate Department at large, helping on pre-closing matters such as initial document preparation, drafting and maintaining closing checklists, and preparing and coordinating execution of signature pages with clients and related parties, and closing/post-closing work like, amongst others, ensuring completion of all execution version documents and preparing and distributing record sets.

In his spare time, Alberto enjoys playing soccer, golf, and padel. He also enjoys playing the drums and cooking with friends and family.

Pressly Pratt

Pressly Pratt is a 2L at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where she currently serves as the Executive Notes and Comments Editor of The Florida Law Review. Last summer, she interned for The Honorable Judge Marcia Morales Howard at the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida in Jacksonville, Pressly’s hometown.

Before attending law school, Pressly taught sixth grade math in Brooklyn, New York as part of the Teach for America Program. Prior to teaching, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Economics from the University of California at Berkeley. While at Berkeley, she served as an editor for the campus’s newspaper, The Daily Californian.

In her spare time, Pressly enjoys cooking, hot yoga, and spending time with her friends, family, and dog, Nellie.

Crystal Singh
Crystal Carmen Singh is a 1L at the University of Michigan Law School. She is of Trinidadian & Peruvian descent and uses the pronouns She/Her/Hers. Despite originally being from Coral Springs, Florida, Crystal has spent much of her childhood outside of the United States, living in Singapore for four years and Bonn, Germany for three years before returning to South Florida at the age of 15.

Crystal graduated cum laude with a BA in English & Philosophy from Tulane University. She was a member of the Tulane Women’s Bowling Team and attended the university on a NCAA Division I scholarship. During her NCAA career, was a four-time NCAA All-Academic Team selection and was ultimately the recipient of the 2022 American Conference Women At Large Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Outside of athletics, Crystal served the founder & president of TEDxTulane and worked as a peer mentor for Tulane University.

At Michigan Law, Crystal travels as a member of the Mock Trial Team and is an affiliate of the Latin Law Student Association, the Black Law Student Association, and the Women of Color Coalition. Crystal also engages in local pro bono work within Washtenaw County as a law  clerk for the Family Law Project & a member of Michigan Law’s 1L Oral Advocacy Immigration Clinic.

Last summer, Crystal interned at a boutique personal injury firm located in Sunrise, Florida, where she gained extensive experience in client communications, document drafting, and dispute resolution. Crystal also interned for the Honorable Judge Ernest A. Kollra of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Florida.

In her spare time, Crystal enjoys boxing, exploring different cuisines, and caring for her French Bulldog, Bruno. She looks forward to returning to South Florida for the summer and growing from the Bilzin team.
